Recognizing that the expense of an investment in an MBA program is often beyond the realistic reach of those pursuing a career in a non-profit social enterprise, Lehigh is launching an open competition for The Asa Packer Social Entrepreneurship Award, named after the founder of Lehigh University, which will provide a full tuition scholarship plus a stipend of $18,000 to aid with expenses during the year-long program.  This competition is open to any social entrepreneur, aspiring social entrepreneur, or leader of a social enterprise, from anywhere in the world.

The 1-MBA program is a one-year, on campus, rigorous curriculum that includes functional areas of business as well as embracing the shared value model that recognizes various stakeholders in modern societies. Program start in January 2017 will provide students with sufficient business background to prepare for a June-August summer internship. It is hoped the social entrepreneur will complete their internship with another social enterprise organization to learn about best practices and gain mentorship. Program completion will be December 2017
